[The Suwannews=Kim Tongjoo Reporter]The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education (Superintendent Neul-ho Shin) announced on the 19th that it has established a basic plan for the development of Gangwon SAT-type assessment questions for the 2024 academic year and will produce its own SAT-type question papers this year following the previous year.
This year, a question development team composed of teachers in the province majoring in Korean, math, English, social studies, and science, and a review and advisory team composed of teachers with experience in submitting and reviewing questions will be separately organized to produce the Gangwon SAT-type assessment questions.
In addition, unlike last year, when the question papers were distributed in files, the test papers will be distributed in the same format as the SAT, with a cover or printed version, reflecting improvements suggested by students and teachers, to increase utilization.
Meanwhile, the provincial education office has included in the basic plan a similarity comparison data between the 2023 Gangwon SAT-type assessment questions and this year’s SAT. The similarity comparison data was compiled by the Gangwon SAT Test Item Analysis Research Group, which categorized the similarity of the items by item and calculated the similarity by scale. The comparison items were categorized into five categories: Concepts and Principles, Prints and Views, Prophecies, Material Types, and Question Formats, and the scale similarity was categorized into high, moderate, and low levels. High similarity was categorized as items that showed similarity to four or more items, low similarity was categorized as items that showed similarity to only one item, and the remaining items were categorized as moderate.
As a result of the analysis of the Gangwon SAT-type assessment items (280 items), 6.8% of the items showed high similarity, 15.4% showed moderate similarity, 16.7% showed low similarity, and 61.1% showed no similarity.
“We expect teachers in the province who have experience in taking the National Assessment of Educational Achievement and other tests to actively participate in the development and review of the Gangwon SAT-type assessment questions for our students,” said Superintendent Neuho. ‘By expanding participation in the development of the Gangwon SAT-type assessment questions, the number of teachers in the province with expertise in analyzing and answering questions will increase, and as a result, we will generously support the project so that it can be a catalyst for students’ academic growth.”
