GADLEX 2025 in Gumi: The Future of Aviation, Defence and Logistics at a Glance

[The Suwan News, By Youn Si Young] The 2025 Global Aerospace Defense & Logistics Exhibition (GADLEX), the largest specialized expo in Korea, hosted by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Gumi City, and the ROK Army Second Operational Command, and organized by the Korea Aerospace Industries Association, was successfully held from September 24th to 26th at Gumico in Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Now in its third year, GADLEX set a new record for scale, featuring 204 booths operated by 94 participating domestic and international companies/institutions. The event attracted a total of over 5,900 visitors, including students and job seekers who demonstrated keen interest in the youth talent recruitment fair, proving the high level of public engagement.

Convergence of Industry, Academia, and Military

This expo went beyond a simple technology showcase, serving as a platform for convergence where industry, academia, and the military came together. Major defense companies such as Hanwha Systems and LIG Nex1 presented their latest technologies and products. The Gyeongbuk Gumi Defense Innovation Cluster Project Group and the Gumi AI Robot Enterprise Council also participated, highlighting the capabilities of the regional industry.

Especially impressive was the Youth Talent Recruitment Fair. Participants were able to communicate directly with company HR managers to gain specific career information, allowing the expo to function as a platform providing real opportunities for young job seekers. Many attending students and job applicants remarked that the event was “a great help in preparing for their careers.”

Dronebot Combat Competition: A Festival of Technology and Creativity

The 3rd ROK Army Second Operational Command Commander’s Cup Dronebot Combat Competition, held at Kumoh National Institute of Technology, was the highlight of the expo. Divided into military application and sports participation categories, the competition featured events such as surveillance and reconnaissance, bomb dropping, drone soccer, and drone racing. Competitors showcased creative technology and outstanding skills, demonstrating the potential of future military and industrial technology.

Citizen-participation programs were also offered on-site, including a Surion helicopter display and boarding experience, drone and robot experience zones, 3D printing, and simulated shooting, allowing general visitors to directly experience the technology and enjoy the expo.

Gumi Rises as a Hub for Defense and Aerospace Industries

GADLEX was more than just an exhibition; it provided momentum for Gumi to leap forward as a core base for the national defense industry. Tangible outcomes were achieved, including an agreement for training specialized defense personnel and securing 23.9 billion KRW in investments. Gumi City itself has achieved a total of 10 trillion KRW in investment attraction results just three years into the 8th popular election term.
