[수완뉴스=육주현 기자] On the 28th, EMK Musical Company (EMK), the production company of the musical “Frankenstein,” released a teaser video for the musical “Frankenstein,” which will open on June 5 at Shinhan Card Hall in Blue Square in Seoul, making the audience’s hearts beat faster.
The teaser video shows a chilling laboratory scene. Starting with a shot of a taxidermied eagle in the lab, the tense situation is created by the thunderstorm outside the lab, and the heavy atmosphere of the work is perfectly explained in the teaser.
Sparks fly in the background of the lab inside Frankenstein’s castle, increasing the tension, while the machines in the lab are shown with strong electrical currents. Then, the title ‘Frankenstein’ appeared along with thunder and lightning as the camera slowly zoomed in on the machine that created the monster, raising the anticipation for the upcoming performance.
The musical ‘Frankenstein’ is an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel of the same name published in 1818, and has been acclaimed for making people reconsider human selfishness and the nature of life through the story of two men, a man who tried to become a god and a creature who longed to be human. It is known for its strong narrative and rich music, as well as the fact that all the main characters play one or two roles, creating life characters for legendary actors.
Frankenstein, which premiered in 2014, became a sensation at the time of its premiere, winning a total of nine awards at the 8th The Musical Awards, recognizing both its artistic and box office success. Following its premiere in 2014, the musical returned to audiences in 2015, 2018, and 2021, setting overwhelming box office records each season and earning rave reviews as a representative box office hit of Korean original musicals. In 2024, “Frankenstein” will celebrate its fifth season and 10th anniversary with EMK’s production know-how, and is expected to captivate audiences with a higher level of perfection.
Meanwhile, the 10th anniversary performance of “Frankenstein” will be performed from June 5 to August 25 at Shinhan Card Hall in Blue Square, Seoul.
