Suwan News (CEO Kim Dong-ju) announced on the 13th that it has officially launched a profile card search service—which builds and visualizes a database of teenage and young adult activists—through the humanities portal “Maru Mit Dallakbang” (www.maru.or.kr).
This service builds on the Future Talent Database project, which was launched in 2021 by Suwan News—a media outlet for teenagers and young adults—but was temporarily suspended due to practical constraints, including a shortage of development personnel. Kim Dong-ju, the head of operations for “Attic Under the Floor,” plans to officially discontinue the existing Future Talent DB service and absorb and integrate it into the “People Search” feature within the integrated search system of the company’s humanities portal, thereby continuing the project in earnest.
The newly launched people search service was built on the open-source bulletin board software GNUBoard 5, and its quality was enhanced by actively incorporating the generative AI technology that has recently been gaining attention during the development process. As a result, the developer successfully implemented a clean and intuitive “Profile Card” UI—on par with that of major portal sites—in a one-person development environment.
The "Person Search" program is open to young people aged 18 to 34. Any young talent who is blazing their own trail in various fields—including businesses (startups and small and medium-sized enterprises), politics and political parties, media and broadcasting, civil society, culture and the arts, and YouTube creators—is eligible to apply.
Registered young talents will be offered a variety of benefits, including promotional support on the portal, marketing support, and networking opportunities with other activists. Applications are accepted year-round through the official “Maru Attic” website, and after a brief review of personal information, profiles will be made public in the portal’s unified search results.
Kim Dong-ju, Operations Manager at “The Attic Under the Floorboards,” said, “The Future Talent Database project, which had been stalled due to the company’s difficult circumstances, has finally come to fruition thanks to AI, a powerful tool,” and “I hope that young activists and creators, who previously found it difficult to gain exposure due to the high barriers to personal searches on major portals, will use ‘The Attic Under the Floor’ as an opportunity to make their names known to the world and connect with one another,” he added.
