With September 30—the deadline for payment of the September 2026 regular property tax installment (the second installment for residential properties and the land tax installment)—approaching, Wonju City has urged taxpayers to pay by the deadline.
The property tax assessed this time covers a total of 123,404 cases, amounting to 53.2 billion won, representing a 1.81% increase from last year due to factors such as a rise in individually assessed land values and an increase in newly constructed apartment complexes. Property tax payers are those who own land or housing as of the assessment date of June 1, and the payment deadline is September 30. Please note that a late payment penalty may be imposed if payment is not made by the deadline.
However, for residential property taxes with an annual tax amount of 200,000 won or less, the full amount was assessed last July and will not be assessed this September.
Payments can be made at the teller counters and CD/ATM machines of all financial institutions nationwide, as well as via ARS (☎142-211), WeTax (wetax.go.kr), Internet Giro (giro.or.kr), and virtual account transfers.
Taxpayers who have signed up for electronic service must check their electronic tax notices via a mobile payment app or email. Those who have enrolled in automatic payment should check their account balance or credit card limit in advance to ensure that the payment is processed successfully.
Min Young-mi, head of the Local Tax Revenue Division in Wonju City, said, “On the payment deadline, financial institution counters may be crowded, or there may be a temporary surge in traffic on online payment systems such as WeTax, which could cause delays in payment,” adding, “We ask that you pay as early as possible before the deadline to avoid penalties such as late payment surcharges.”
