[Suwan News = Official Press Release] Suwan News (CEO Kim Dong-ju), a media outlet for teens and young adults, is recruiting “Opinion Editors” to help shape the Opinion section of its main website until October 31. The recruitment period may end early if all positions are filled.
The categories for which we are recruiting are: ▲Columns (Editorials/Columns section) ▲Poetry (Poetry section) ▲Free Commentary (Free Commentary section). One editor will be selected for each category through a separate review process, and recruitment for other categories will continue even after selection for one category has concluded. Applicants should select only one category they wish to manage and apply accordingly.
Opinion editors are responsible for exploring social phenomena and individual perspectives through various formats, such as columns, poetry, and free-form commentary. They select topics that convey social messages and are timely for serialization in the opinion section, and identify and propose new topics related to youth and social issues that resonate with readers. As needed, they also participate in planning content in other formats, such as short-form scripts or interview outlines.
Applicants must be 40 years of age or younger and possess the ability to understand and write in Korean, as well as the skill to write logically and coherently. Preference will be given to those who are proficient in using the WordPress Block Editor or generative AI, and those who can convey their knowledge in an easy-to-understand and engaging manner. Even if you are new to writing, you are welcome to apply.
When applying, you must submit one copy of a column you have written yourself and a personal statement in any format. You may choose any topic related to social issues or current issues facing adolescents and young adults; the essay must be an original piece that has not been published in any other medium. Final selections will be made through a two-step process consisting of an initial document review and a second-round interview.
The program typically lasts one year, but can be extended if desired. Selected editors will receive evaluations, feedback, and mentoring from the editorial team, allowing them to develop their writing and planning skills. If a column is selected as an outstanding piece, the author will receive a certificate, and the article will be published on the Suwan News homepage, reaching a wider audience.
