[Suwan News = Official Press Release] Suwan News (CEO Kim Dong-ju), a media outlet for teenagers and young adults, is recruiting “Regional Editors” to help develop the regional section of its main website until October 31. One editor will be selected for each of the 12 regions nationwide, including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, and Gangwon.
The recruitment regions are: ▲Seoul ▲Gyeonggi ▲Incheon ▲Gangwon ▲Chungcheong ▲Daejeon ▲Sejong ▲Jeonbuk ▲Jeonnam and Gwangju ▲Gyeongsang (North Gyeongsang, South Gyeongsang, and Daegu) ▲Busan and Ulsan ▲Jeju. Since screening and selection are conducted separately for each region, recruitment will continue in other regions even after selection for one region has concluded. Applicants should select one region they wish to cover and apply; they may apply even if their place of residence differs from the selected region, provided they can consistently cover that region.
Regional editors cover news related to administration, education, culture, and daily life in their assigned regions, as well as the voices of local residents, and write articles based on their reporting. They identify and propose issues that resonate with local teenagers, young adults, and residents, and, as needed, participate in the production of content in various formats, such as interviews, on-site photo features, and short-form video scripts. The publication frequency is determined in consultation with the editorial department.
Eligible applicants must be 40 years old or younger, possess the ability to understand and write in Korean, and be able to write logically and coherently. They must also take an interest in news from their assigned region and be able to write articles on a regular basis. Preference will be given to those who reside in the assigned region or whose daily life—such as school or work—is centered there; those proficient in using the WordPress Block Editor or generative AI; and those capable of taking photos and recording videos.
Applicants must indicate their preferred region on the application form and submit one original article they have written on that topic. The article must be an original piece that has not been published in any other media. Selection will be based on a preliminary document review and a follow-up interview to determine the final candidates.
The term of service is one year by default, but may be extended for outstanding participants. The schedule for writing articles can be coordinated in advance to fit your personal schedule. Selected editors will receive feedback and mentoring from the editorial department, and their articles will be published in the “Local” section of the Suwan News homepage. Upon completion of the program, you will receive an official certificate of participation.
