Gangneung City will hold a “Planning and Design Briefing Session for the Construction of the New Gangneung City Agricultural Technology Center” on the 28th to strengthen the future competitiveness of local agriculture and provide state-of-the-art agricultural administrative services.
This briefing session was organized to review the progress of the Agricultural Technology Center relocation and new construction project—which has a total budget of 67.2 billion won—and to share the results of the preliminary design work carried out to date, with the aim of developing a high-quality final detailed design plan. City officials, representatives of farmers’ organizations, and experts in related fields are scheduled to attend the event.
After conducting site visits to similar facilities in other municipalities and gathering input from all departments, Gangneung City has completely re-planned and revised the floor plans for key facilities, including the microbial culture facility, the Scientific Farming Center, the smart farm, and the Agricultural Product Processing Support Center. As a result, the city has finalized the optimal building layout and floor plans, and has meticulously incorporated a customized design that significantly enhances user convenience.
Gangneung City plans to conduct a final review of the recommendations raised at this briefing session, complete the detailed design by May 2027, and move forward with the project as quickly as possible, beginning with the start of main construction in June 2027.
Kim Kyung-tae, director of the Gangneung City Agricultural Technology Center, stated, “I will do my utmost to ensure that the new Agricultural Technology Center building becomes a hub for cutting-edge agriculture that will lead Gangneung’s agricultural sector into the next 100 years.”
