Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Sam-young) visited eight social welfare facilities in the province on September 22 to deliver gifts and share warm wishes.
Every year as the holiday season approaches, the Provincial Office of Education has consistently organized events, such as visiting social welfare facilities to show concern for neighbors in need. In particular, for this Chuseok, the Superintendent and staff from the Provincial Office of Education visited the Chuncheon Hyoja Comprehensive Social Welfare Center to participate in the “Sharing New Rice with Love” event, during which they delivered 10 bags of new rice to underprivileged households.
The social welfare facilities visited included eight locations: the Chuncheon Hyoja Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, the Aemin Day Care Center, the Gangwon Rehabilitation Center, the Gwanglim Specialized Nursing Home for the Elderly, the Yeonhwa Village Nursing Home, the Dongsan Senior Welfare Center, the Chuncheon Municipal Welfare Center, and the Chuncheon Municipal Nursing Home.
Also on the same day, the Superintendent of Education and other senior officials from the Provincial Office of Education visited the Chuncheon Folk Market to purchase holiday food items and other goods to help revitalize the local economy, taking the opportunity to interact with local market vendors.
Superintendent Kang Sam-young said, “Holidays are a meaningful time to look out for our neighbors and share our warmth with one another.” He added, “I hope that small acts—such as visiting welfare facilities to share warmth and shopping at traditional markets—will serve as a source of warmth for the local community, and I pledge that the educational community will continue to foster a culture of sharing and mutual growth with the local community.”
