Wonju City will host the 3rd “2026 Wonju Social Economy Company (Come, Funny!)” on October 3 at the Central Plaza of the Gangwon Social Economy Innovation Town.
This event was organized to bring together social economy enterprises, public institutions, and citizens to share the values and achievements of the social economy, and to promote the spread of these values within the local community and the implementation of ESG management in the region.
The event will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with a citizens’ walking event, after which the main program will begin. The event will feature booths offering hands-on experiences, product sales, and food from social economy enterprises, as well as an exhibition showcasing companies with outstanding ESG practices in the social economy, an exhibition highlighting the results of collaborations between social economy enterprises and public institutions, and an awards ceremony honoring individuals who have contributed to the revitalization of the social economy.
We plan to create a festival where citizens can enjoy participating in performances and various events, allowing them to naturally experience the values and significance of the social economy. In particular, the “Between Us: Connecting Values Festa” will feature stages where diverse groups—including youth, people with disabilities, multicultural families, seniors, and North Korean defectors—can participate together. The event is designed to be a space where citizens from different backgrounds can come together, share their values, and communicate with one another.
Through this event, the city plans to share the diverse activities and best practices of local social economy enterprises with citizens and to broaden public interest in and understanding of the social economy. In addition, the city intends to foster collaboration between social economy enterprises and public institutions and lay the groundwork for the sustainable growth of the local social economy ecosystem.
A city official said, “We hope this event will serve as an opportunity for citizens to experience firsthand the activities and values of social economy enterprises and to reflect together on the role the social economy can play in the local community,” adding, “We will continue to strive to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among social economy organizations and to foster a sustainable social economy ecosystem.”
