On the 22nd, Wonju City received a commendation from the Governor of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province at the “51st Anniversary Celebration of the Establishment of the Civil Defense Corps,” held at the Baekryeong Art Center at Kangwon National University, in recognition of its contributions to emergency preparedness and the advancement of civil defense operations.
Jointly organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, this event was held to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the establishment of the Civil Defense Corps, to honor individuals who have contributed to the development of civil defense operations, and to boost the pride of Civil Defense Corps members.
This award was presented in recognition of the city’s achievements across all aspects of civil defense operations, including education and training, facility and equipment management, and inspections. Wonju City was highly commended for its contributions to establishing the region’s emergency preparedness and advancing civil defense operations.
Wonju City has been working to strengthen its civil defense operations by conducting civil defense education and training, systematically managing civil defense facilities and equipment, and carrying out ongoing inspections and audits of related operations to ensure the smooth implementation of civil defense duties.
In addition, through systematic management and inspections that take on-site conditions into account, the organization has laid the groundwork for a rapid response to emergencies and has worked to maintain and strengthen the region’s emergency preparedness.
An official from Wonju City said, “This award is the result of our consistent efforts to establish the region’s emergency preparedness and advance civil defense operations,” adding, “We will continue to carry out civil defense operations thoroughly and do our utmost to protect citizens’ safety and strengthen the region’s emergency response capabilities.”
