The “29th Wonju Folk Arts Festival,” organized by the Wonju Branch of the Gangwon Folk Arts Association (President Kim Ok-ju), will be held at the Chiak Arts Center from September 29 to October 4.
Held under the theme “Our Stories Connected Through Art,” this arts festival was organized to showcase the works and performances of local artists to the public and to promote the development of local culture and the arts while expanding opportunities for citizens to enjoy culture.
The exhibition will be held at the Chiak Art Center gallery from September 29 to October 4. Visitors can view a variety of works by local artists, including calligraphy, literati painting, folk painting, stone carving, and painted textiles.
The performance will take place at the Chiak Arts Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on October 2. Various artistic groups, including the Yeonhi-rak Pungmul Troupe and the Cantabile Saxophone Ensemble, will participate and present a diverse program featuring traditional percussion performances and saxophone music.
Park Hye-soon, Director of the Culture and Arts Division, said, “The 29th Indigenous Arts Festival is an event where local artists gather to connect through art and share culture and the arts with citizens,” adding, “I hope many citizens will attend the festival to enjoy the diverse works and performances together.”
This arts festival is free for all Wonju residents.
