The Wonju Branch of the Korea Writers’ Association (President Ko Chang-young) held the “24th Wonju Life Literature Festival Awards Ceremony” at 4:00 p.m. on the 19th in the Grand Auditorium of the Gangwon Provincial Nature Learning Center. The event began with an opening ceremony, followed by a special lecture by poet Jang Dae-song titled “Singing of the World in the Language of Life,” after which the awards ceremony for winners in each category took place.
Following a rigorous selection process, the winners in each category were announced: Lee Jeong-sook received the Grand Prize, Han Pil-su and Lee Jin-man were awarded the Excellence Prize, and Yoon Jong-hee received the Member’s Choice Award.
The awards ceremony that day took on added significance as it also served as an opportunity to practice sharing through literature. The Wonju Branch of the Korea Writers’ Association donated the entire 500,000 won prize money—awarded to “Wonju Literature,” Wonju’s representative literary journal, for winning the Excellence Award at the 15th Literary Journal Contest held recently—to the “Wonju Citizens Helping Each Other Angel Movement.” By donating the prize money—the fruit of their literary creativity—to help neighbors in need within the local community, they put into practice both the value of literature and the spirit of giving.
Park Hye-soon, Director of the Culture and Arts Division, said, “I sincerely congratulate all the award recipients, and I thank them for putting the value of respect for life into practice through literature and for spreading warmth and generosity throughout the local community.”
