The Gangneung City Forestry Division joined the “Relay Campaign to Boost Consumption and Revive the Local Economy” to breathe new life into the sluggish local business district and support small business owners in the area who are struggling due to declining consumer spending.
This campaign is a hands-on initiative designed to restore flagging consumer confidence and foster a climate of increased spending within the region. All departments of Gangneung City, along with related agencies and organizations, are participating in a relay-style initiative, contributing to the recovery of the local economy by patronizing “Fair Price” businesses and neighborhood shopping districts, as well as purchasing goods produced and distributed within the city.
Staff members from the Forestry Division joined the campaign by patronizing local businesses, such as restaurants in their jurisdiction, and actively engaging in practical consumption. In particular, they agreed that everyday spending can contribute to the financial stability of local small business owners and the recovery of neighborhood commercial districts, and they decided to continue their participation moving forward.
Choi Jun-gwang, head of the Forestry Division, said, “Although these are small acts of consumption, they can be a great source of support for local small business owners.” He added, “Going forward, I will continue to actively participate, along with our staff, in patronizing local businesses and purchasing locally produced goods to help restore people’s livelihoods and revitalize the local economy.”
