Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, Bongsan-dong (District Chief Kim Tae-seok) conducted a joint public-private cleanup campaign on the 21st to create a pleasant local environment.
The environmental cleanup activity that day was attended by the Bongsan-dong Neighborhood Leaders’ Association (Chairman Ha Il-gyun), the Residents’ Self-Governance Committee (Chairman Park Jeong-gyun), the Live Righteously Committee (Chairman Jo Bong-geol), the Saemaul Council (Chairman Shin Young-hwan), the Saemaul Women’s Association (Chairwoman Choi In-soon), among others.
Participants focused on collecting abandoned and illegally dumped trash in the alleys of Well Market Road in Bongsan-dong, the Samgwang Housing Development commercial area, and the vicinity of Dongbu Circular Road. In particular, ahead of the Chuseok holiday, cleanup efforts focused on major residential areas and environmentally vulnerable zones to ensure that residents and returning hometown visitors could enjoy the holiday in a pleasant environment; the total amount of trash collected that day reached approximately 3 metric tons.
Kim Tae-seok, head of Bongsan-dong, said, “I would like to thank the members of local community organizations for joining us in keeping our neighborhood clean ahead of Chuseok,” adding, “We will continue to work with residents to create a pleasant living environment and make Bongsan-dong a great place to live.”
