The Bongsan-dong Community Welfare Council (Public Chair Kim Tae-seok, Private Chair Lee Jong-gwan) carried out the “Ansim ON Lighting Project” last August for vulnerable residents in the district.
This program was established to prevent safety accidents—such as falls—that may occur when seniors with limited mobility move around at night or in dimly lit indoor spaces, and to create a safer and more convenient living environment.
The task force visited the participating households to install motion-sensor lights and other equipment, and inspected the living environments to ensure that the elderly could move around more safely at night.
Lee Jong-gwan, the civilian chairperson of the Bongsan-dong Community Welfare Council, said, “Even a short trip in the middle of the night can be a major inconvenience and pose a risk to seniors with limited mobility.” He added, “I hope these motion-sensor lights will help ensure the safety of our seniors, even if only a little, and we will continue to promote welfare initiatives that provide practical assistance to residents in their daily lives.”
The Bongsan-dong Community Welfare Council plans to continue actively identifying gaps in the local welfare system and carrying out various community-specific projects aimed at ensuring the safety and improving the well-being of vulnerable populations.
