Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the Musil-dong Saemaul Women’s Association (President Choi Yeon-sook) held a “Chuseok Food Sharing Volunteer Event” on the 22nd to help neighbors in need within the community enjoy a warm and bountiful holiday.
Members of the Saemaul Women’s Association participated in the volunteer activity that day, carefully preparing and packaging holiday foods and side dishes—such as bulgogi, japchae, songpyeon, and jeon—from early in the morning. The members personally delivered the prepared food to 40 households in the community, including vulnerable groups and those in need, sharing their warmth with them.
Ahead of the holiday season, members checked in on neighbors who might otherwise feel left out, met with them in person to extend holiday greetings, and deepened the meaning of sharing food. Through this volunteer effort, they also expressed their hope that they could play a small part in helping their neighbors enjoy a warm holiday season.
Choi Yeon-sook, president of the Musil-dong Saemaul Women’s Association, said, “In celebration of Chuseok, we prepared food with great care together with our members, hoping that our neighbors in need would have a warm and happy holiday.” She added, “We will continue to pay close attention to our neighbors in need in the community and consistently carry out volunteer activities that promote sharing.”
